This interesting project was recently completed in the workshops of our 'Bulahdelah Alum & Timber Company'. We took a heavy die-cast yard crane kit, made the winding and slewing mechanisms operational then mounted it on one of our On30 18 foot flat cars and added a second as an idler flat. The complete package consists of three separate kits plus a few accessories to add that extra realism to your layout.

Pillar Crane Kit Details:

Prototype History:

Our 1:48, O scale Narrow Gauge (or On30) yard crane is based on several US prototypes found in the New Haven area. The crane was electrically powered with a heavy duty DC motor operating the winding mechanism and a lighter double reduction electric motor/gearbox operating the 360 degree slewing mechanism. Several cranes had cabs fitted over the operator's platform.
