MORE INFORMATION:

Gold on base is a special foil evaporated with 24 K gold. These leaves are not as damageable as pure natural gold and therefore easier to handle - also for beginners. The gold layer is much thinner compared to grinded gold leaves. Gold on Base is not the same as composition gold!

  • 10 gold leaves on base (no composition gold) each 2" x 2" or 4,5 x 4,5 cm.
  • Thickness of Gold in each leaf approx. 0.2 - 0.4 microns on base
  • Base is a support material (foil)

  • Decorating items for furniture, antique, photo frame, art & craft, sculpture, and multi-purposes.
  • Suitable for general Gilding.
  • Decorating lettering and bookbinding's, popular in interior design and artistic work

Composition gold is the term for different kinds of metal - e.g. copper or brass which is razor thin grinded or beaten. It is a cheaper substitute used e.g. for decorating store windows, toys made of metal or for bookbinding. Composition gold is a mixture of brass/copper and zinc. Additional 15% zinc makes these leaves look like real gold due to the similar colour and reflexion of these materials and it is nearly impossible to distinguish from real gold without proper testing.
