This colour photograph was taken by the founder of Elephant Nature Park, Sangduen Chailert, better known as Lek. Lek often has her camera with her when wandering the park and in this beautiful photo has captured Jungle Boy, Lilly and Mae Keow foraging in the jungle.
Elephant Nature Park is a sanctuary for rescued elephant, situated in the Mae Taeng valley near Chiang Mai in northern Thailand. There are currently 30 elephants residing at the park, together with the 35 dogs, 15 cats and 3 cows that Lek has saved over the years. At the park the elephants are free to roam and forage and are not made to work. As well as providing a safe haven for elephants and other animals, Elephant Nature Foundation works to educate people about the plight of the endangered Asian elephant and advocate their rights.
The photo is signed by Lek on the back and will be sent between protective boards to ensure safe arrival.
