Gold Vermeil is a fully precious metal product and a great alternative to a full gold product. This product is 14Kt gold triple coated over a solid genuine Sterling Silver base.Unlike plated gold which is gold electro plated over a cheaper base metal - this is a high quality 14Kt gold triple layered over solid Sterling Silver. If you have allergies to tin alloys or nickel Gold Vermeil findings and beads are a much more economical alternative to solid gold as you get the same lookand colour as full gold but at a fraction of the price.The pricing reflects the quality, you get what you pay for. Plated Items,also in the store, are lower priced than these vermeil items. I tend not to stock the 'Gold Filled' type of gold as this is gold over a cheaper brass base metal.In time when the gold on gold filled items wears, the brass turns a darker colour than if the gold is over sterling silver. Sterling is not as hard as the cheaper brass base metal so therefore the 14carat  or 24 kt gold over sterling silver has a better longevity and tends to not wear as quickly as the gold filled items.
