1828 Sampler by Hannah Cox 

Dimensions: inside frame 15.75ins x 12.5ins, outside frame edge 19 x 16ins 

Frame: Old wooden frame with gilt slip

Mounting: Conservation mounted on acid free card

Content: Verse ’Time is never at a stand, Life is like a fading flower, Death is always near a hand, And comes nearer every hour, Those who now are young and gay, Shortly will be old and grey.’  ‘Let us then prepare to die, Since the day of death is sure, Then it will not signify, Whether we are rich or poor, we shall only want to know, whether we prepare to go’. Good selection of motifs. Worked in a silk thread on a linen background.
