In 1866 the Royal Mint struck a Young Head / Shield Gold Half Sovereign coin.

This coin is an extremely nice example and is even scarcer in this condition. This coin shows minor signs of wear and has some lustre. The high resolution scans of this coin shows it is in Great condition.The last "6" in the date 1866 is different to the first. This could be a possible O/Date, I could not find any information as to O/dates of this year in the half sovereigns although some full sovereigns were produced. This coin is great investment for the serious collector.
