Description:

This is a rare 18th Century line engraving of George Washington in
red ink engraved on laid paper.
 The condition is excellent.  Inventory number on verso in graphite.

Sheet size:  Height 8 1/8", Width 5 3/8"
Image size:  Height 5 11/16",  Width 3 1/2"

Renier Vinkles

56  Bust, to left, in uniform, within frame, 4/16, hung on a wall. Beneath, a base on which is title and upon which lies a hat, baton and olive branch.  a curtain hangs over and conceals the upper left corner of the frame.

39  G. Washington General Der Noord-Americaanen.  Bust in Uniform, Head to left.  Inclosed with border, resembling a picture frame suspended over a pedestal (in rectangle), upon which lies a Hat, baton &c.  A curtain hangs over and conceals the upper left corner of the frame                                                                    Line.

Height 5 10-16 inches; Width 3 8-16 inches.

George Washington was the Commanding General of the Continental Army during the American Revolution as well as the first American President of the United States.  He died at his home Mount Vernon in 1799.
