1920 and 1921 threepence - each weigh: 6.90 grams, diameter: 20mm

1920 and 1921 sixpence - each weigh: 8.44 grams, diameter: 22mm

1920 and 1921 shilling - each weigh: 12.05 grams, diameter: 24mm

1920 and 1921 Florin (two shilling) - each weigh: 17.5 grams, diameter: 30mm

Total of 24 examples of the 1920 -1921 3p to Florin square Pattern coins that never made it to production.

Each of the two dates has their own version of portraits of a Sir Edward Mackennel's King George V designs on obverse and unique Australian wildlife on reverse.

Well struck antique brilliant uncirculated quality coins with sharp detailed design housed in a well made booklet that measures 27cm x 18.5cm.

Although some mystery surrounds this pattern issue, it is believed that these patterns may have been included in the Australian Government Mint square pattern collection that was to replace the heavy and large circulating pre-decimal coinage. With the change of government AND the stabilising of the cost of silver the momentum was lost and the known approximate 400 examples of the square Penny Kookaburra's slipped into history and people collections.
