   1920s CHESTER HM 9CT GOLD & SAPPHIRE Brooch ISLE OF MAN

Beautiful 1920s ART DECO 9CT GOLD & SAPPHIRE bar brooch with ISLE OF MAN logo.  Fully hallmarked for Chester 1922 with makers stamp WBS for the renowned Ward Brothers silversmiths.  The brooch is also stamped with a patent number.  This means that the design of the brooch was protected at its time of manufacture.

This is a GENUINE, ART DECO, bar brooch.  It has a rare ISLE OF MAN logo to one end which makes it very collectable & the centre of the brooch is set with 2 beautiful NATURAL mined sapphires!  It also has a collectable Chester Assay Office hallmark as this office closed in 1962.

The Sapphires are secure within a very beautiful entwined leaf setting.  One of the Sapphires has a stunning Marquise cut shape & the other has a brilliant round cut.  Both are beautifully facetted & give off a gentle sparkle.  They have an intense deep blue colouring with lighter blue tones.  The Marquise Sapphire is 5 mm by 2 mm & the Round Sapphire is 2 mm across.

The famous 3 legged 'Isle of Man' logo has been delicately engraved & is nicely positioned at one end of the brooch.  The other end of the brooch beautifully tapers to a point!

The brooch is fitted with a solid hinged pin & has a very stylish, shaped clasp!  This has beautiful shaping & can be seen in photo 2.  It is much prettier than a 'C' clasp fastener which most brooches made in the Art Deco period have!  The hinged movement is in perfect working order & the pin is still perfectly straight.  The brooch fastens very securely & is still complete with its original tiny loop fitment.  A safety chain can be added to this if desired.

This brooch measures 1 & 3/4 inches in length (4.5 cms) & weighs 1.1 grams.  It is now 87 years old, yet still in amazing beautiful condition!!!  The gold has a beautiful colour & gorgeous warm shine AND there is no tarnish present either!
