ART DECO ORIGINAL 1930’S DRESSER This fabulous original 1930’s dresser has a beautiful sunburst pattern in the leadlight glass of the 2 upper cabinets. Glass is in great condition without cracks or chips. In early times it was likely to be in the large kitchens. However in my different homes, it has been in my living room and also a bedroom. It has always been admired by visitors and has provided great storage The sides have truly deco-inspired plywood panels that curve around to meet the flat back of the dresser. The top has a rear stepped edge. It has the original metal handles (all with some rust). Glass doors open to two full-length shelves. Under the glass doors, the cabinet on left-hand side is tin-lined with wire inset, separating the cabinet in 2 levels. (original bread or meat cabinet) There are 3 drawers on right-hand side.On the lowest level are 2 timber doors on both sides which open up to 2 full-length shelves. Dimensions are: Height: 162 cm (169 cm with back trim) Depth: 46 cm Width: 144 cm There is slight damage to thin curved decorative timber on the bottom right-hand front corner which has been glued. Hardly noticeable and does not detract from the beauty of this piece (see photo) It could be enhance by some tender loving care. I have not tried to improve it since purchase from rural NSW in 1980's Truly a spectacular example of 1930’s lifestyle furniture and a must for any lover or collector of this period.
