Enamel badge marked Potens Sui in very good condition.Marked on the back 2521 KG Luke Melb.

Badge dates to 1930's when the Macrobertson's Girls school started using the badges.

 

Palladians Association History

The Palladians Association is the title given to the association of former students and staff of Melbourne Continuation School (1905 - 1911), Melbourne High School (1912 - 1927), Melbourne Girls' High School (1927 - 1934), and The Mac.Robertson Girls' High School (1934 onwards).

Prior to 1930 The Association was named the Ex-Students' Association of Melbourne Girls' High School, which incorporated ex-students and staff of both the co-educational Melbourne High School and the new Melbourne Girls' High School.

In 1929 all members of the ex-student association decided that a new and distinctive name should be chosen for the association.

Miss Christina Montgomery's passion for Latin was an influential factor in the design of a badge with the gold head of Pallas, the goddess of knowledge, wisdom and study, and the school motto Potens Sui which translates to Power Over Self.

The name Palladians was approved by the Principal, Miss Christina Montgomery, and the School Council as the new title for the association in 1929, and the Palladians Association came into being in 1930.
