The set of pipes being offered here is ready to ship now!  This pipe has been identified as a set of Wm Sinclair bagpipes from their combing, known history and mounts.  These pipes are known to be of early 1960s vintage, are made of African blackwood, and are full-mounted in plain, Hallmarked, Sterling silver.  (This includes 4 closed ferrules, 5 open ferrules, 3 ringcaps [with bushes], 4 slides, 8 projecting mounts and 1 full silver mouthpiece.)  These pipes are in good "used" condition, and are free from any defects, warps or cracks in the blackwood. 
 
 
These pipes have been played over the last 10 years by a Grade 1 piper.  As such you are guaranteed these pipes have been well looked after and regularly played!  In 2007 these pipes were played by this piper in the winning band of the Grade II section of The World Pipe Band Championships and in 2008, they were played in The Grade I finals of this same competition, The World Pipe Band Championships.  Prior to being played by this Grade I piper, these pipes were played by a relative who purchased these pipes new from Wm Sinclair in 1962.  (A full provenance regarding these pipes can be given to the winning bidder if so desired.) 
 

Points to note regarding these pipes are that even though these pipes are guaranteed original 1960s Wm Sinclair pipes, the Hallmarks show the silver was added in 2006.  Also, although all the mounts are in good "used" condition, there are a few minor marks (too small to photograph) which are only to be expected on a regularly used instrument.  Should the winning bidder be so inclined, these could easily be polished out.  However, in my opinion, these marks are so minor as not to detract from the overall appearance of these pipes.

All in all this is an excellent vintage pipe at a very affordable price.  The tone of Wm Sinclair pipes is well appreciated by many pipers. With the current cost of silver, these pipes are a bargain at the starting price!  If you've been looking for an affordable, high quality, vintage pipe in excellent "used" condition, it is unlikely you will find a better offer!
