Embroiled in five wars, three revolutions and as many counter-revolutions, Sergeant (now Corporal) Cushing relates his experiences as a warrior, a prize-fighter, practical joker, revolutionary, gun-runner, prisoner of war and a comically unco-operative enemy agent. Shrewd, cynical, tough and at times engagingly irresponsible, he sails through any kind of trouble with a disarming blend of blarney and belligerence.....from the blurb.
