You are bidding on a 20 Dong banknote issued in South Vietnam in 1969. The Vietnam War, also known as the Second Indochina War, began in 1959 with an uprising by Vietcong forces supplied by North Vietnam. The US entered the war to prevent a communist takeover of South Vietnam as part of their wider strategy of containment. US involvement escalated in the early 1960s, with US troop levels tripling in 1961 and tripling again in 1962. In an attempt to end the war in a single blow, forces of the National Front for the Liberation of South Vietnam (the Vietcong) and the North Vietnamese army launched the Tet Offensive in 1968. Despite its military failure, the Tet Offensive was the turning point in America's involvement in the Vietnam War. It had a profound impact on domestic support for the conflict and ended the career of President Lyndon B. Johnson (who declined to run for re-election). Ho Chi Minh died at age seventy-nine late in 1969. Bid now to own a piece of History! I have described the note as best I can. However, I am not a professional currency grader, so please examine the image and bid accordingly.

Condition: Graded AU. Crisp note with good eye appeal.
