1973 Moffat Geoghegan XA GT 1:18 Bathurst Winner MIB*

This is a very rare offering.  The famous Ford Motor Company 1973 Bathurst winning XA Falcon driven by two of the great’s Allan Moffat and Big Pete Geoghegan.   The original built by Biante and authorsied by Moffat.

This 1:18 scale model has been displayed for a short period but is in as new condition.

The model is in superb condition and is extremely collectable.

Please look at the photos to get a feel for this great piece of Australian motor racing history.   The model has been lovingly treated and has been safely stored in its box for some time.

This 1:18 scale model of the XA GT Falcon Hardtop captures the cars victory at the 1973 Hardie Ferodo 1000 at Mt Panorama Bathurst.

The white and blue Falcon was developed around a good pedigree – the ill fated GTHO phase IV.  Whilst the sedan version of the 4 door super car was still born its clone in the guise of the hardtop took advantage of the phase IV’s mechanical package.

Just to mention a few of the hardtops (the RPO 83) mechanical specifications:  the car ran a more modified version of the phase IV’s Boss 351 Cleveland four bolt engine, including hand made extractors, harmonic balancer, dual point distributor, heavy duty cross flow radiator and seven blade fan, 31 spline top loader gearbox, 3.5 inch tail shaft, 9 inch diff, rear discs and the 36 gallon Bathurst tank.

Race start saw the pole setting XA Hardtop of John Goss lead the field up the mountain with Moffat in close pursuit.   This was the first of the 1000 KLM classics at Bathurst.  The XU1 Toranas of Brock and Bond put up a great fight but a fuel shortage for the Brock Chivas car followed by tyre trouble which also affected the Bond car gave Moffat his third win at Bathurst with only 2 minutes in hand before exceeding the driving limits for the event.

This was truly a great race and a very important car in Fords Mountain history.  Moffat described the Hardtop’s as Zoomier than the GTHO’s because they had much wider tyres, the engines had enjoyed healthy development and the cars sat on the ground nicer – they were a much more pleasant animal to drive when compared to the HO.

This is a very limited run of only of 6000.

The model, box, certificate and brochure are in as new condition.  This model is part of the Biante Allan Moffat collection.

This truly is a rare and very collectable model and is an absolute must for any Australian Motor Racing, Allan Moffat, Pete Geoghegan, Bathurst or Ford Fan.

You will not be disappointed if you purchase this item.

Happy bidding
