Up for sale is my 1988 Toyota Corolla CS-X AE82 Hatchback. The car is registered until 23 Feb 2010. Bidding starts at $0.99 with a low reserve!

I purchased this car in May from a lady owner who had it for a few years. The reason I am selling this car is because I am completing my final semester at university in Brisbane and then moving permanently to Adelaide in December for work. I have looked at the cost of driving it or transporting it there but this will cost upwards of $500 which would make more sense being put towards another car. Since I will be living in Adelaide I will no longer need this car, I will be sad to see it go.

The car is in great mechanical condition, starts first time every time. The car's frame is an AE82 Toyota Corolla. The engine is a 1.6L (1587cc) 4-cylinder that has been reconditioned (sent away to be professionally cleaned, repaired and put back together). It has 402,000km on the clock. Although the odometer has seen many kilometers, I have had many of the older parts changed to newer ones to prolong the life of this car (the work I have had done on the car is listed below).The engine runs smooth and the head gaskets were replaced two years ago. It is quiet and does not blow smoke. The car is a Front-Wheel Drive 3-speed Automatic. The transmission is good and changes into gear smoothly. A new timing belt was put in along with a replacement alternator in September.

The body has a few dints and scratches as can be expected with a car of this age. The left wing mirror has a hairline crack in it. The wheels were replaced in May with 14" Toyota Alloy Wheels and P6000 Pirelli tyres with 60-70% tread remaining. The battery was replaced on 03/06/2008. All lights/indicators/wipers are in working order. The car's air conditioning works but needs to be regassed to be cold (approx $80).

The car's paint still has a good finish with hardly any fading at all. I assume it was kept indoors for many years of its life.The interior is as clean as they come, excellent condition for its age, the roof lining is not saggy, there are no rips in the seats. The driver's seat is extremely comfortable and feels like a bucket seat. The car has never been smoked in since it has been in my possession and has been kept in a clean state (no food/muddy football boots left in the car etc). The car has a basic sound system, a radio and tape deck. The sound quality is not very good. Included are two keys for the car, a Gregory's Automotive service & repair manual and a bottle of red Turtle-Wax Colour Magic Car Polish.

This would make an excellent first car for a student or someone learning to drive. Fuel costs are low since this car has a 1.3L engine. Maintenance, rego and insurance are all cheap for a car of this size and popularity. Replacement parts will always be available for cheap, so you can expect it to run for a long while yet. If you are looking for a cheap, reliable run-around to get from point A to B this is the car for you.

The car is located in St. Lucia, Brisbane. I will be free this weekend (Sat 31st Oct / Sun 1st Nov), and again on Sunday 8th Nov for an Inspection/Test drive.
