19C. KINGDOM BULGARIA COURT LADY DRESS SKIRT – UNIQUE!

DESCRIPTION: Offered to you from a private collection is this Unique ballroom dress skirt in great condition for its age. It belonged to the Countess of Greno – Anna Alexandrova St.Cristoff-Stanchova who until 1896 was an official court lady from the antourage of Queen Maria Louiza the wife of the Bulgarian King Ferdinand I Sax-Coburgotta. The dress has been kept for over 100 years in the family of the Countess’ personal assistant, whose relatives stayed in Bulgaria. It had to be hidden after WW2 because the Communist regime tried to confiscate all artifacts related to the Royal Family.

The skirt has been hand sewn in the Royal Tailor’s Workshop. It is made of purple velvet with satin lining on the inside. Beautiful hand embroidered decorations of golden thread and miniature beads and stones. Beautiful floral patterns with flying butterflies. Made in a pompous Victorian style with longer reverse side. There are a couple of minor holes in the lining on the back and a couple of holes in the velvet, as well as a couple of small storage stains again in the same area on the back. These minor imperfections don’t affect the overall condition and attractiveness of this glorious dress. This museum grade piece would proudly take its place in any private collection.
