2 brass buckles per lot! These are brass! I had in my description that these were not solid brass because I scraped on one and found the metal beneath to be silver looking.  Although I found the metal to be soft and easy to carve, I believed brass would be a solid color throughout.  I learned recently that brass has a skin that forms around it that makes it appear gold in color.  Given the weight (1.1oz) per buckle, and the softness of the metal throughout - I believe these are truly solid Brass!  The other thing that leads to my conclusion, is that the Metalart Buckle Co was a well known company for many years as a quality buckle manufacturer that graced many high priced outfits from its thriving years in the early to late 1900's.  It is possible that the company still exists under a new name,  but I couldn't find the metalart Buckle Co with the Google search engine.

Most of the buttons and fasteners I have were stock for a local manufacturer who made products for private labels.

This particular buckle fits a 1-3/4" single hole belt. 

The date on the box is 5/15/73.  I don't know when this buckle was no longer made, but these buckles are antique by purchase date!  I hand select each buckle from the box to ensure you are getting the most for your money.  Once they are gone, they are no longer for sale! 

Every buckle I have looked at seems to be in the same shape it was purchased in nearly 35 years ago!
