	Antique French Baptism Christening Bibs Nuns Estate sale 2 fancy bibs to be used at a baptism or christening. One fastens at the neck with the tiniest hidden button. It is decorated with lace around the edge and has embroidered dots and flowers. The other is again made from very fine cotton or linen material and fastens in the same way. It has fine scalloped lace edging and decorated with drawn thread work. It is a longer bib with straps to go around the baby's body to hold it in place. These bibs and the baptism robe mentioned above came from a Nun's estate sale, as did a lot of the embroidered items that I currently have for sale, as well as her daughters' confirmation gloves, and even her own confirmation bonnet and gloves set. She appears to have had a life before entering the now-closed convent in Puy en Velay, but it must have been tinged with tragedy as she had a collection of funeral items including plumes for the horses. Dimensions: width 7" or 18cm by 4" long or 10cm. 2nd bib 12" wide or 30cm by 10" or 26cm long Condition: Seemingly Perfect. Colour: white – not beige as in the photos! Freshly laundered so ready for use! *Do visit my shop for more French finds!* Most of the items that I list will be vintage or used, so may show signs of their previous history, which is the whole charm of these pre-loved items. If you are looking for a pristine, unused item, then my finds are probably not for you. I do my best to describe their condition accurately.
