To commemorate the Year of the Surf Lifesaver, the Royal Australian Mint has released this prestigious PNC as a tribute to the icon of Australian beaches. Surf Lifesaving is an integral part of the Australian beach scene with world famous beaches from the Gold Coast to Sydney's famous Bondi Beach. The Surf lifesaving organisation has over 113,000 members and saves over 500,000 lives around Australia.
Started in 1907, founded at the new formed NSW Surf Boating Association and celecbrating it's 100th year of saving lifes in 2007.
The generios efforts of these men and women of the Surf lifing Saving are celecbrated through this year of the Lifesaver.
