2007 Unc. Cupro Nickel Celebrate the Centenary of the TT Races Set of 5 Coins

In May/June of each year, the Isle of Man hosts its famous TT Races, and 2007 was extra special as it celebrated the 100th Birthday of the Races. The Island played host to some of the finest names ever to have competed on the famous circuit and to celebrate this special event the Isle of Man Treasury approved the release of a series of five coins depicting some of the most iconic riders from TT history.

The coins in this series feature the following TT legends: Charlie Collier – the British motor cyclist who won the first single cylinder class race in 1907. Stanley Woods – the Irish motor cyclist who won the race ten times in his career. Geoff Duke – a British racer who dominated motorcycle racing in the 1950s, he won the TT races five times. Mike Hailwood – known as Mike ‘The Bike’ because of his natural riding ability, he is regarded by many as possibly the greatest racer of all time. By 1967 he had won 12 times on the infamous island mountain course. Joey Dunlop MBE OBE – an incomparable 26 TT wins between 1976 and 2000 on machines from 125cc to 1000cc made Joey the undisputed King of the Mountain. Joey Dunlop was tragically killed while racing in Estonia in 2000.
