performance keeps it on the list of kitchen essentials for great chefs and home cooks alike.

Lodge have developed a vegetable oil electrostatic spray system with a high temperature gas oven to actually season the cast iron before it ever leaves their South Pittsburgh,
Tennessee foundry. The resulting seasoned cast iron cookware has a far superior look and performance to home seasoning. No hassle, no mess, no work - just an heirloom
finish that you can use right out of the box after giving it a light hand washing use only hot water (do NOT use soap or detergent!) and a stiff brush
(do NOT use a "scrubber" - metal OR plastic!).

Never wash the vessel with soap or detergent. If not using soap or a detergent seems unhealthy, just remember that the vessel is sterilised by the cooking heat. In fact,
cast iron is a great deal healthier for you than most or all other cooking materials.
