4 x KODAK PORTRA 800 Colour Neg Film---35mm/36 exps

This is one of Kodak's newest films in the sense that Kodak have just refined and improved all their famous films with recently upgraded manufacturing facilities in Rochester, New York so that most of their films have had improvements in finer grain and sharpness upgrading their specifications over the previous versions. This is true of the TMAX black & white negative films, the Kodak colour transparency (i.e. slide) films and the PORTRA range of professional colour negative portrait films. Kodak PORTRA 800 is the fastest speed and finest grain (for its speed) Professional Colour Negative Portrait films on the market with a speed of 800 ISO, balanced for daylight, exceptional natural skin tone rendition, superb colour reproduction even under mixed lighting, with  new technology delivering "optimised sharpness with distinct, fine detail and capturing a greater range of brightness with more highlight & shadow detail". This film also features wide exposure latitude with "best in its class underexposure latitude"  (if you miscalculate the correct exposure by 2-3 f stops over OR under correct exposure the film will save you with excellent prints to be obtained from the resulting negatives). It also has improved colour image stability (meaning the negatives will last intact indefinitely with near archival keeping quality), "single channel suitability for uniform printing efficiency" (as with all the Portra films of any speed)  and this film "is a NEW GENERATION EMULSION DESIGNED FOR OPTIMUM SCANNING QUALITY" (which speaks for itself when using digital scanners).

This film produces vivid but natural colour especially with skin tones as it's a portrait film. Its main feature  is it's HIGHLY FAITHFUL COLOUR REPRODUCTION especiall of skin tones. It is a true 800 ISO speed film.  It can also be pushed 1 to 2 stops to 3200 ISO with adjusted processing to capture shadow and low light detail without flash. It is ideal for fast action shots or low light photography.

So what does all this mean for the advanced amateur & non-professional user (as professionals should know all this stuff already)? Well, it's one of the finest grain films around (perfect for REALLY BIG enlargements), has exceptionally faithful colour reproduction (perfect for weddings, portraits, fashion shots etc under different forms of lighting), wide-exposure latitude & "superb skin tone reproduction" (which speaks for itself when using it for pictures of people). It also has superb archivability (i.e. keeping quality) if stored properly and it's negatives will yield superb prints for at least 80 YEARS so image retrieval is not a problem (unlike digital).
