Each 2 tape set was released in the 70's or 80's by Candlelite Records, a New York company that pioneered the late-night TV offer "Not available in any store! Act now!" style of oldies marketing. (The tapes were usually manufactured by the major labels especially for Candlelite.) Originally, these sold for over $10 per set of two extra length tapes (the equivalent of a two or three record set, which they also sold) and they're in nice, solid, book size boxes.
