Five Solid oak barley twist Jacobean style chairs

The chairs stand on classic turned legs to the front united by a moulded rail between the front legs, with plain rear legs and moulded rails. The seat rails are moulded above which are the barley candy twist backs with five slats and a curved crest rail and turned finials. The chairs have later-fitted striped green cotton sateen seats. A good set of chairs with a medium to dark oak finish.

Date: The chairs date circa 1920s - 1940s.

Condition:

The chairs are in fair to good condition, retaining the original finish, having good colour and patination with some bumps, marks and scratches. One barley twist back has been repaired using glue (see close up picture). The upholstered well-padded sprung seats are drop in with a green striped cotton sateen finish in dirty condition, which can be easily recovered or cleaned. There are also 3 matching chairs and a carver all in poor condition that will be given to the successful bidder if they should wish. The seats of these additional chairs are in the same condition as the others and the chairs are all repairable.
