This film is a medium contrast black and white negative film with a speed of 400 ISO and is claimed by Ilford to be "the WORLD'S SHARPEST 400 ISO BLACK & WHITE CAMERA FILM" with extremely fine grain yielding "OUTSTANDING SHARPNESS" and wide  tonal range in the resulting negatives producing "SUPERB PRINT QUALITY". It's very versatile 400 ISO speed can be uprated to 1600 ISO or downrated to 50 ISO with very little loss of quality and still maintaining the VERY FINE GRAIN characteristics and EXTREME SHARPNESS. It can be processed in a wide variety of black and white developers. Because of these characteristics this film is an extremely versatile film that can be used in virtually any situation where extreme sharpness and wide tonal range are crucial and yields first class results.  This exceptional film uses ILFORD'S unique core shell crystal technology.  The extreme sharpness of this professional emulsion allows levels of enlargement never before possible without loss of fine detail which is perfect for producing superb black & white prints.. 

It is one of Ilford's world famous black and white emulsions that has been a favourite with black and white photographers everywhere in recent years (as it is just a reletaively new emulsion). It has superior exposure latitude of  50 ISO to 800 ISO with the film rated at 400 ISO.
