How does a Pool Cover work?
The translucent pool cover allows maximum sunlight—and heat into your pool.
Short wavelength solar energy passes easily through the cover —generating heat like a magnifying glass. This heat is retained by the insulating qualities of the bubble material and the air pockets between the swimming pool cover and the water — similar to double glazing.
Installing your Pool Cover
All that you need to do is trim it carefully to the exact shape of your pool with a pair of normal household scissors.
Follow these easy steps:
- Ensure the pool water level is correct.
- Lay the cover bubble side down on the pool water (bubble side down).
- Remove any air pockets beneath the cover with your pool broom.
- Using your pool as a template, cut your cover with a pair of scissors (sharper the better), to the shape of your pool. It is recommend you do a “rough” cut first, around 100mm larger than the pool. While cutting ensure you watch the side you are not cutting (or have help) as it is easy to accidentally pull the cover away from the opposite side while you are cutting—and this can result in the cover being too small. Also allow a flap in the blanket for the skimmer box, so leaves and debris can be hosed off the top of the cover into the skimmer.
- After 2-3 days of the initial cut, (allowing for any shrinkage that may occur in the cover), now trim the cover to its final size of 75mm larger than your pool.
