A 19TH CENTURY NEEDLEPOINT AND TAPESTRY PICTURE IN THE MEDIEVAL STYLE We are offering for sale this wonderful, very large needlepoint and tapestry picture. As can be seen from the dimensions, this is a very substantial piece of work and makes a very impressive display. It depicts, in the medieval style, a lady with two attendants, one on either side. These three figures are worked in needlepoint, whilst the background is worked in tapestry. It is a beautiful tapestry that is in excellent condition. The auction where this piece came from are infrequent, generally only three or four annually. The auctioneer-owner, whilst in retirement, continues to bring good pieces together for these fine sales, and these are particularly well attended by the trade searching for genuine pieces new to the market. Most of his entries are as a result of probate, with other pieces, such as this offering, coming from established clients. This tapestry came from the home of a lady in Knaresborough, near Harrogate. The tapestry is being offered unframed and unglazed, and could be displayed on a wall as such. Strong colours throughout. This is a very large piece and beautifully worked. Approximate Measurements
