A SALUTE TO THE HUMBLE YABBY - OLSZEWSKI - 1980

Despite its value as a food source and its place in an important ecological cycle, the Australian freshwater crayfish has been much maligned by English colonists during their brief period of settlement in the Great South Land.  In fact it has only been in recent years that the true worth of the yabby has been realised.  In this book, Peter Olszewski examines the myths and legends, the facts and fantasies that have been generated by and about, the humble yabby.  Illustrated with drawings, photographs and diagrams there are numerous recipes and adages, Aboriginal appreciation and early colonists' encounters with how to catch and cook. 

This 150 page softcover takes, at times, a lighthearted/joking look at the humble yabby, but also contains some interesting facts.  The cover has some heavy fading (please see photograph), light marks and edgewear.  There are brown marks/mottling to page edges, however these do not impact on page face and light marks to a couple of pages.  It is otherwise in a tight and clean condition.
