Daryl's Aboriginal ancestry is derived from his mother's side and their cultural area / association is through a chain of Aboriginal descendants who have undisputed links to the Gundungurra country of the Yuin Nations.  The Gundungurra people were traditionally located around the Blue Mountains, the Burragong Valley, and Goulburn and extended as far as Benti Basin.  Darug was the traditional language spoken in this area.

Daryl has worked most of his life with Aboriginal Affairs in various roles.  He is registered as an Indigenous Creator (No 202) with the National Indigenous Arts Advocacy Association and his business (EMU TRAX) which has been operating for over ten years is registered with the Koori Business Network, Victoria.  Daryl spends much time researching his Aboriginal heritage, his spirituality and connection to belonging place and this reflects into his evolving Koori art styles and interpretations.

There is a level of expression beyond words that is in the area of my concern.  I see my art as a chance to reflect on my personal heritage as an Aboriginal person.  I feelthat painting, by its visual nature, provides a means to express modern Aboriginality, reinforce my identity and reflect my cultural connection to country.  I am interested in achieving through my artwork depictions of the relationship between Aboriginal culture, its connection to nature and modern Australian society.  I strive to evoke a sense of the deep connection to the Aboriginal world and to create an almost mystical feeling of wholeness.

Daryl has done work for Quicksilver- Painting Surfboards that have sold Internationally.

Daryl has Painted Golf Bags for Ray Drummond which have also been sold Internationally.

Daryl has Painted Paintings for Major Hospitals in Melbourne which include The Austin Hospital & The Northern Hospital
