This translation was made in the theatre. In 1973, the Melbourne Greek Theatre project decided to undertake a production of the Oresteian Trilogy. They invited American poet and translator Rush Rehm to join them to evolve a translation, especially for the production. Over a period of eight months the translator worked with director and actors, constantly revising in the light of rehearsal and discussion to produce a version which closely reflected the meaning of the original Greek, while being able to express that meaning on the stage. The result is a translation which is not only intensely readable but which will also provide material for future actors and directors.
Very good condition. A couple of creases and fading to cover. Pages have no tears, creases or dogears.
