AFL Premiers 1977 Draw
DVD
Region ALL, Runtime 120 mins
When Collingwood went into the final quarter of the 1977 Grand Final 27 points in front of North Melborurne it looked like years if pain, anguish and near misses were finally about to be swept away. Surely, the Magpies, with such a commanding lead, would be abel to hold on and lift the premiership cup for the first time since 1958. After all, North had only managed to kick 4 goals in three quarters. To win, you'd think the Kangaroos would need to kick at least six in the term to snatch the flag. Well, the Kangaroos kicked five, Collingwood one and as Shane Bond was streaming down the southern side of the ground tyhe siren roared across the MCG. As it sounded, the realisation was as heavy and obvious to the 108,224 people at the ground as it was to the exhausted players - the scores were tied and we'd be coming back the next week to do it all over again. Many will claim that Collingwood should have been able to find enough to hang on, but had it not been for Ross Twiggy" Dunne's dramatic last minute goal there would have never been a replay. Others will say that North's atrocius kicking for goal - they booted 9.22 - was the only thing which kept Collingwood alive. The grest thing about this game is that people are still talking about it. It was one of the greats. It will live in our memories forever ensure it has a similar place in your video library."
