Replica 1200 BC Canaanite clay fertility figure, known locally in the lands of Israel and Judah as Astarte or Asherah, feminine aspect of Yah-El.

A popular and much revered image throughout the Middle East for countless centuries, the statuette is the Semitic version of the ancient Mesopotamian goddess Inanna-Ishtar in her breast-offering pose known famously as “The Ishtar Pose.”

Astarte-Asherah evolved from the heavenly goddess of the old Sumerian legends into the "Queen Of Heaven" and the "Great Virgin Mother," effectively coming to symbolize the feminine aspect of the godhead. She commanded universal respect and is remembered in the ancient myths as "she who gave light to the heavens."

Hand made clay effigies similar to this are found throughout the Holy Land and she was venerated in various forms right up to the time of Greece.

The majority of our replicas are hand-made, cast in non-toxic Hydrostone, an imported stone composite material which is harder, more durable and realistic than plaster or plastic. Items are hand-finished to duplicate the original artifact as closely as possible and individually checked for quality-control.
