ANTIQUE BRONZE ASIAN EGRET HERON BIRD ON TURTLE EXC

DESCRIPTION: This is a very unique piece. It is an antique Indonesian bronze mature egret standing on a turtle. The turtle doesn't seem to mind. It has it's head out of the shell, it's eyes and mouth are open. The egret has it's mouth open wide as if it was squaking or just swallowing down a fish. A great rarity and I was very happy to have found such a bizarre antique. The whole piece is very detailed and has excellent craftmanship. No matter what the age, it is in excellent condition.

Purchased in Celuk, Indonesia within past 5 years. Vender who sold piece happened to have an old collection of bronze pieces in a back storage area in his shop. This piece was not on display - it was part of the collection from the previous owner. Apparently the artist's dad had purchased the shop 30 years ago and the shop came with these as part of the deal. Now the shop sells Keris, or swords, so these were just collecting dust. The artist was not clear on their exact age, but customers in my store seem to think it is a true antique. Meaning at least 100 years old. However, others have estimated 40-80 years. I am not an expert and can not verify the age. I can not make any guarantees on it's age.
