ANTIQUE COW BELL IN GOOD CONDITION FOR ITS AGE. THE CLAPPER IS ORIGINAL. THE INITIALS H.M ARE STAMPED ON THE FRONT.

THE BELL WAS FOUND IN THE HISTORIC ORA BANDA REGION IN THE WESTERN AUSTRALIAN GOLD FIELDS

GOLD WAS DISCOVERED IN ORA BANDA ( BAND OF GOLD ) IN 1893. IT SOON BECAME A LARGE MINING TOWN WITH ABOUT 2000 PEOPLE AND ALL THE ATTENDANT FACILITIES.

SUPPLIES WERE BROUGHT IN CHIEFLY BY CAMEL TRAIN SO IT IS PROBABLE THAT THIS BELL WAS USED IN THIS WAY.

ORA BANDA BECAME ALIVE AGAIN WITH THE FILMING OF " THE NICKEL QUEEN " IN 1971.

ONE OF THE MOST INFAMOUS CRIMES IN WESTERN AUSTRALIAN HISTORY OCCURRED IN 2000 WITH THE MURDER OF A GYPSY JOKER BIKER, THE SUBSEQUENT FIRE BOMBING OF THE ORA BANDA HOTEL, AND THEN IN 2001 THE MURDER IN PERTH BY CAR BOMB OF THE HOTEL'S OWNER, A RETIRED SENIOR DETECTIVE. 

 

THIS BELL IS ONE OR TWO FOUND AT ORA BANDA AND BEING OFFERED SEPERATELY. HAS A DEEP STRONG RING.
