THE SECOND OF TWO BELLS OFFERED FOUND AT THE HISTORIC ORA BANDA AREA IN THE WESTERN AUSTRALIAN EASTERN GOLD FIELDS.

THE CLAPPER IS ORIGINAL. THE SOUND IS SOFTER AND MORE GENTLE THAT THE OTHER BELL OFFERED. 

THE RUST IS SURFACE 

GOLD WAS FOUND IN 1893 AND ORA BANDA BECAME A LARGE CENTRE FOR MINING. AS CAMEL TRAINS WERE COMMONLY USED TO BRING IN SUPPLIES IT IS PROBABLE THAT THE BELL WAS USED FOR THAT PURPOSE.

 

ORA BANDA WAS THE SETTING FOR THE 1971 FILMING OF " THE NICKEL QUEEN '

IN 2000 THE INFAMOUS MURDER OF A GYPSY JOKER BIKER OCCURRED AT ORA BANDA, AND SUBSEQUENTLY THE ORA BANDA HOTEL WAS FIRE BOMBED, AND IT'S  OWNER, A RETIRED SENIOR DETECTIVE,  WAS MURDERED BY CAR BOMB IN PERTH.
