          This Rare Authentic Antique Tekke Turkoman Pile Rug has a Hand Spun Tribal Grown Wool Pile Very Finely Asymmetrically Hand Knotted to Hand Spun Two Ply Undyed Wool Warps and Undyed Wool Wefts and Displays A Well Balanced Layout of Tekke Main Guls with the Gorbache Minor Gul Enclosed by Exceptionally Well Drawn Skirt Decorations. The Superb Tribal Grown Wool in the Pile Feels Almost Like Velvet to the Touch and The Use of the Purple in the Ground has Given this Small Group of Tekke Rugs the name "Purple" Tekkes and the Colour is Recorded to Have Been Used Well before 1900. One Documented Source is the Book "Profile of an Uzbek Women", Created between 1907 and 1915 which shows an Uzbek woman Standing on a Larger version of a "Purple" Tekke. A NOTE ON BOOK QUOTED IN DESCRIPTION: Prokudin-Gorksii was photographer to the Csar and spent many years documenting the tribal people of Central Asia over the period of Russian takeover. Here is a quote about his photos at the time: "....he developed an ingenious photographic technique in order for these images to be captured in black and white on glass plate negatives, using red, green and blue filters. He then presented these images in color in slide lectures using a light-projection system involving the same three filters...."
