CORO

Coro (Cohn & Rosenberger) was founded by Emanuel Cohn & Carl Rosenberger in 1901/1902 & incorporated in NY in 1913.
A factory was established in Providence, RI in 1906. Besides New York & Providence; at times they had offices or plants in Chicago,
Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Toronto, England and Mexico.
Cohn died in 1910, but the name remained Cohn & Rosenberger.
The corporate name "Coro" was adopted in 1943.
Rosenberger died in 1957, & his son Gerald, who suceeded him, died in 1967.
In 1969 the family sold 51% of the Coro stock to Richton, Intl. Corp., who bought the remaining stock.
Richton also owned the Oscar de la Renta brand.
By 1979 all the Coro's except the Canadian company were bankrupt. It was sold to a South American company & also went backrupt.

It's taken a lot!! of willpower to list this piece for sale. The best of the best in Coro jewellery being signed on the rear with the flying horse Pegasus symbol, Coro in lower case itallics inset into an off angled box. Circa 1940's. Large & beautiful & VERY RARE, only 1 on ebay worldwide!!! Book piece that IF it was in mint condition would fetch a much higher price, BUT l would like to see this go to someone who appreciates & will treasure this piece for what it is ~ a work of Art ~ l always planned to repair/replace the missing stem one day, but l am just too busy to do so and simply can't keep all of the pieces that l hold dear. OK so to the description :)

It is a large stunning dimensional, raised signed antique pendant. It weighs in at a substantial! 15grams is high gloss gold fill in a, l guess you would describe a bowl setting. It is japanned over gold fill (meaning blackened over gold). Then there are the 7 stems sitting above, each with a stunning pure white rhinestone or austrian crystal. Above that the highly detailed cameo lady in traditional white & jet black sits proudly surrounded by small cream seed faux or real pearls. It is gorgeous and l have photographed it on a dull day. The bale opening is large at 0.5cms (3/10th of an inch) to accomodate quite a thick chain, or add a pin and wear it as a brooch. It measures laid flat without the bale 3.5 x 3.5cms (1 1/2" x 1 1/2" inches) with a raised height/thickness of 1cm (1/4" inch). The Coro symbol on the rear is clearly visible. The picky bits are, one stem & rhinestone is missing, 3 of the bowl settings are not as japanned (blackened) as the others, the rear is reverting to silver at the edges or backs of the bowl (which of course is not noticeable when worn). That's it in a nutshell! l hope somebody out there in the world will see it as l do ..... ART. Thanks for reading, good luck!
