Calling Card Case

Mother of Pearl

A lovely Victorian calling card case which would date from around the late 1800's, or possibly a bit earlier.

The case is made of beautiful mother of pearl and is felt lined.  It has a push button closer.  The inside edge of the case is lined with what may be bone or similar - it is an off white colour.

Cases like these were used in Victorian times to hold calling or visiting cards.  These days they could hold business cards or even credit or phone cards.

This is a lovely collectable item, which sell for quite a lot of money in antique shops (check the Web for shop prices).
