I have always loved old portraits of women, especially red or auburn haired women. I used to have an entire wall of antique and vintage women portaits , I have since sold most of them. This one is an antique oil painting on canvas of a Grecian or Neo-CVlassical young owman with deep auburn hair , soft blue eyes ...very romantic painting. Like I said, it is painted on canvas, but appears to have been transferred, maybe cut down form a larger painting that had damage, then affixed to this newer masonite style board. I show a photo of the canvas that had peeled away to let you know this is old and not new. The condition is good, there may be some inpainting ( over painting ) , that someone did along time ago...but I am unsure if it was the artist or later.
It is unsigned , and if you want a beautiful redhead hanging on your wall, then you will like this very much. This measures 16 x 12 ins. approx. WITH the simple gold wood frame that appears 1940's. The painting itself appears to be from the late 1800's.  The frame is a bit wobbly, but still serviceable.
