ART NOUVEAU CLOCK FRENCH CAST METAL WORKING c1909

Genuine Art Nouveau period French cast metal clock, gold-toned cast iron, circa early XXth Century, early 20th Century , circa 1909. No makers marks that we can find. Stable, hardy and very sturdy. The clock face is behind glass. The clock face is well designed and easy to read even without reading glasses; this has the hours 1 through 12 as black Roman numerals and beneath them, in red, to mark this for 24 hours, are the numerals 13 through 24. The clock hands are tinted a very deep and slightly reflective sapphire blue. On the back is one (1) clockwise turning center knob to set the hours, one (1) counter-clockwise turning handled knob for winding, and one (1) slide for adjusting the time to go faster or slower. THE CLOCK WORKS; when properly wound, this clock keeps time accurately. The metal has a beautiful deep and rich patina, and this looks far more expansive than the low price we are asking. Please give this a good home. We like this elegant functional little clock very much. This is an original genuine antique French Art Nouveau working cast iron desk clock at least 100 years of age and this is not a fake; this is not a recent reproduction and this is not a recent copy.

SIZE:
• Overall, this stands approximately 5 inches tall // 12,5 cm.
• Overall this measures approximately 5 inches x 2.5 inches x 4 inches // 12,5 cm x 6,5 cm x 10 cm.
• The diameter of the glass clock face only measures approximately 2 inches // 5 cm.

The Beaux Arts period is approximately from 1880 to 1910. The Art Nouveau period overlaps the Beaux Arts period and is approximately from 1890 through 1920. The Art Deco period follows the Art Nouveau period and overlaps it, and is from approximately 1920 through 1938. The periods are approximate because styles defining periods do not change abruptly, as in overnight; all the countries using the styles do not change over from the old to the new at precisely the same instant.

CONDITION: By "antique " we mean over 100 years of age. By "vintage"we mean between 50 and 100 years of age. This item is made of matter and it is OLD; it is at least 100 years of age and this means it is NOT NEW. This is an original genuine antique French Art Nouveau working cast iron desk clock at least 100 years of age and this is not a fake; this is not a recent reproduction and this is not a recent copy. There are some of age and usage, including but not limited to surface wear with wear to the finish , surface scratches, and oxidization into a well developed and very mellow patina, there is some rust on the back, and / or other irregularities characteristic of and typical of old metal things. There may also be signs of age and usage that we missed because we aren't specifically trained to see them. The condition is good overall, there isn't anything functionally wrong with this, and the condition is exactly as shown in the photos; please look at all the photos carefully and read this description carefully. This has not been examined microscopically. We have not taken this apart or put it back together, we've not subtracted anything from it nor added anything to it that was not already there when we got it. We have not cleaned it. It is impossible to divine exactly what information a buyer might want. It is the buyer's responsibility to carefully scrutinize a purchase before buying.
