This artfully executed wtaercolour dates from no later than the middle of last century. The painter's name could be Said Sherill?? There is also a pencil note below the signature that reads A ???? girl? I have always thought this girl looks native American- perhaps Navaho or another southwest tribe and the frame looks early 1900s vintage, I have also looked up the NUNG people of Vietnam as that is one way of interpreting the pencil title; if this is so then the painting may be more contemporary than the frame. Also, that group of people wears indigo and she is dressed in an olive green shift.
Whoever she is, the artist had a wonderful skill. There is an incredible amount of life in her gaze. The framed picture is 15 1/2 by 12 inches. The painting that is attached to a backing is 10 by 6 3/4 inches.
