FACTORY FRESH! BRAND NEW VHS VIDEOTAPE, in the PAL video system

Careful! This tape is recorded in the VHS PAL system and won't work on North American-type NTSC-only VCRs! Sorry.

Torn between assassinating Szczuka, a Communist district leader, and falling in love, Maciek, a young Resistance fighter, asks questions which will become ever more pressing in the years ahead, when ordered to kill on the last day of World War II. Though killing has been easy for him in the past, Szczuka was a fellow soldier, and Maciek must decide whether to follow his orders.

A mood of fatalism tinged with bleak humour is evident throughout this brilliant drama about the anti-communist resistance in the aftermath of World War 2.

There is a scene here in which an upturned Christ is seen in a bombed-out church. It is a powerful image for a generation which sought a new way to live.

This tape is formatted for playback on PAL-enabled systems (Australian / Euro Standard).

PAL: Phase Alternating Line. The colour TV broadcast system used in Australia, UK & Europe. A PAL picture delivers a better quality picture than NTSC due to its 625 horizontal lines (sharper picture and better colours).
