It is a pleasure to offer for sale this excellent example of the ivory mottled version of the iconic "Empire State" radio. I believe it is the the Model 32 released in 1936. This model was produced without a back.
The cabinet is without cracks, scratches and chips, and has a blemish-free sheen. I am unable to find any discernible defects whatsoever in this cabinet. The only minor defects present are the usual chipped damage to the bakelite surrounding each of the metal grub screws in the back of the two control knobs. As well, the dial glass has a very slight yellowing towards its top. However, it does not have the usual burnt hole damage.
The chassis has recently been overhauled, and all faulty or suspect components have either been replaced or restored. This work included a full alignment and retuning and was performed by a qualified and practising radio technician. Please note that a cosmetic restoration has not been carried out.
My photos provide an integral and graphic description of the set's cabinet and chassis. In answer to possible queries, the dial glass, the AWA Radiolette badge, speaker cloth and control knobs all appear to be original, as opposed to reproductions.
Overall this set is a very collectible example of one of the most desirable icons in the world of vintage valve radios.
