This is a moustache cup & saucer in the Small Fern pattern and made by William A. Adderley & Co. This company existed from 1876 to 1905 when it became Adderleys Ltd.
England was added to backstamps generally in 1891 so it is reasonable to assume this item was manufactured between 1891 and 1905.
There is a hairline crack in the base of the cup and also on the saucer. These cracks are shown in photos 3 & 4. The saucer crack is hardly visible on the face of the saucer and actually runs through the flower positioned at 25 minutes to the hour on the saucer in photo 1.
There are no other chips or cracks.
The cup stands 2.5 inches and has a rim diameter of 4.25 inches. The saucer is 6.25 inches diameter.
The backstamp appears only on the saucer. The cup and saucer both have the pattern number.
All stated measurements are approximate.
The item photographed is the item for auction.
