    "The first part of the manual is a discussion of the design of computers and the general principles of computer programming. This is provided for the newcomer to computer practice and it can be ignored by readers who have previous promgramming experience.
    The second part of the manual is an informal introduction to Algol programming with a variety of examples and exercises on each topic discussed. Most of this information applies to Algol programming for any computer.
    The third part deals specifically with 1900 series Algol programming. It is largely concerned with input and output facilities.
    The fourth and final part of the manual is the full Algol 60 report preceded by explanatory notes and some minor qualifications to be observed when the report is used as a reference for 1900 series Algol programming. This repeats the information conveyed in Part 2 but in a far more precise and rigorous manner.
    In general, the first and second parts of the manual are intended to teach Algol, and the third and the fourth parts are intended to act as a reference for the experienced Algol programmer."

    Condition:   good condition - name & topic on title page. There are a few straight, pen lines next to selected parts of the text. Otherwise pages are very good.
