This is an Antique 1800s Table Mounted Wine Bottle Cork Shrinker which came out of a Manhattan estate and it is in good looking and in good working condition. After removing a cork from a wine or other bottle, if it swells too much to get it back in the bottle, this devise is used to shrink the cork so that it will fit again. Just pick up the handle, place the cork in the mouth and push down the handle. Repeat as you twist the cork and then place it back in the bottle. It can be permanently mounted on any table via the two 1/4'' holes at the base and based on the hand hammered rivits it likely dates back to the 1800s. It measures 1-1/2''x2-1/2''x12'' and weighs 3 pounds.
