Brown boards with paste-on picture of Young Girl & her Dollies. This rare book was used as the template for some of the antique dollmakers of the 1920's. Louis Amberg was one such maker. Mibs (1920) is a Louis Amberg doll made based on this book. (See info below) This is one of the rarest doll books and is highly sought after by collectors! " Louis Amberg & Son, Doll Company 1878-1930" "The Hahn & Amberg company was begun in Cincinnati, Ohio USA in 1878 and later moved to New York city around 1893. They first imported bisque dolls from Germany and France, later they manufactured their own composition dolls. In 1907 Louis's son, Joshua joined the company. In 1909 the Amberg company copyrighted the first known American doll head "Lucky Bill" with Louis listed as the artist. By 1911 the company was advertising it's name as Louis AMBERG & SON. By the late 1920's the Amberg company was advertising over 600 style numbers, including some imports. Often marked L A & S or L A & S NY + the year produced. "Mibs" was one of Amberg's favorite dolls.
