Jewellery has always been an essential item of dress to the Burmese and a full complement of earrings, bracelets, necklaces and rings were essential for attending formal events such as weddings and special days of the Royal calendar.

From 18^th century Burma, this bangle is of tubular construction made from alloys containing silver, gold and copper referred to in Burmese as mo-gyo. It has been decorated with turquoise stone, mostly worn away as well as silver filigree. The talents of Burmese goldsmiths and silversmiths were widely admired by the British colonialists who commissioned very detailed pieces from the best artisans during their occupation in Burma in the late 19th century. Earlier pieces such as this tended to be less detailed and refined than pieces from the 19th century.

There are obvious signs of wear consistent with the bangles age, but generally it has survived well.  The stand is included for displaying this charming and exceptionally rare relic from Burma's past.  Please see below for dimensions and postage costs.
