  • Antique Chinese "Chenghua" Bowl
  • Markings Dated from Antique Chinese Markings Book- 1465-87
  • I have found this marking in an Antique book- I can not guarantee item is of this age as no nothing about Antiques. I researched marking in "The Antique Buyers Handbook". I have owned this item for over 10 years and bought it at an Antique Auction.
  • Front of plate is decorated in heavy orange/red background, plate has ring of blue which design is painted in.Blue and green is like enamel with raised texture. Some of the main design in middle has faded. There is also some residue of gold which would have been on birds and puff cloud-like shapes around edge.
  • Back of plate has markings as pic, round circle around this and further blue circles around inner rim. Birds and pattern round rim also has residue of gold in centre of feathers.
  • There is a line impressed in to porcelain were it has rested when fired in centre base ring.
  • Design is handpainted.
